For many people, losing a pet can be just as serious and grief inducing as losing a family member because to them their pets are a cherished part of their family. Thus it is understandable that they would need and want some type of pet memorials in order to find closure over the event and become at peace with their beloved pet’s passing. Pets can be as important as children to many people making it hard for them to deal with the deal of their beloved cat or dog.

However, most people receive support when a family member dies while pet loss usually goes largely unnoticed with more insensitive people who do not have pets of their own simply telling the bereaved one to ‘get over it.’ However, for those who recently have lost a pet, the death of their dog or cat is nothing something that can simply be alleviated without any type of memoriam which is why more and more people are looking at pet urns as a way to remember the impact of their pet in their life without feeling as if they have discarded the memory of their beloved pet.

Pet urns which usually are confined to dog urns and cat urns are quickly becoming the most popular way to create forever pets that can be carried with their owners even after their passing. This is due to the fact that a pet urn is much easier to keep as a memento of their pet and viewed than a section of grass where in the backyard where a pet can be buried. For those with children of their own, or small yards, it may seem sacrilegious to be playing or walking over their pet on a regular basis.

The simple task of even mowing over a square of grass where the passed pet is buried can be unbearable and bring with a conflict of emotions. For this reason, pet urns are now one of the most common forms of pet memorials. In addition, since many people move from home to home, burying a pet in the backyard does not bring closure or provide any chance for the pets to be honored forever, as the new home owners will not care or respect the value of the pet that may be memorialized in the backyard.

With this in mind, if you want to get closure on your pet loss, and discover a way to honor the unconditional love and support that your pet has given you throughout their life pet urns may be the perfect choice. Many are stylish and beautiful while still maintaining a sense of grace allowing you to carry your pet forever without detracting from your home atmosphere instead honoring your pet in a way that no other type of pet memorial could. Dog and cat urns are also a great way to protect the ashes of your pet in the same way that you would any loved one in your life.

When it comes time to pick out a dog or cat urn, one of the first things that you need to decide is where you will keep it in your home. Pet urns come in a variety of colors and finishes designed to fit your budget and home, thus you will want to think about what is best for your home. Among the most popular types of cat and dog urns are those made out of wood, glass, marble, bronze, and ceramic and even some that have a figurine of your pet placed on top or carved into it.

Additionally, when it comes to pet memorials you will want to be conscious of the size, which will differ depending on the size of your pet when they passed. Traditionally, you should a lot 1.5 cubic inches for each pound of your pet’s weight. There are also pet loss websites that have software that you can use to determine the appropriate size of your pet urn. I love this hub! What a great way to remind people that have friends or family that have lost a pet how much it hurts and how devastating it can be! I have lost two dogs over the past five years, one to bloat and one from a car accident, and I feel the loss every day. I have since gotten another dog but he doesn't replace Ben and Jerry (yes, I planned their names that way). I actually bought a companion urn as both of my boys were over a hundred pounds and I like the thought that they are together. http://www.evrmemories.com/berkshire-companion-fun I have room to place the ashes of Gunner, my boxer, in the event I'm faced with it. Have compassion for those that have lost animals - it's like losing a child for most of us.

A lot of great information here. Pet owners need to remember that they are going to be faced with the death of their pet at some time and having a plan, no matter how rough around the edges, will make things somewhat easier.
